 Criteria for IAPLE Fellows 

IAPLE Fellows are among the most eminent scientists and engineers who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, contributions, impacts, reputation and leadership in photonics & laser science and engineering.  The individuals to be considered for the election to the IAPLE Fellow must meet one or more of the following criteria;

1.Demonstration of leadership in the field of photonics & laser sciences and engineering that has resulted in the advancement of the field and

2.Demonstration of outstanding research, development and/or engineering achievements with international reputations;

3.Demonstration of significant engineering & industrial applications and commercialization of photonics & laser technologies;

4.Demonstration of excellent contributions to the promotion of the advancement of photonics & laser science and engineering.

Procedure for the election to IAPLE Fellows

The election to IAPLE fellowship shall follow the following procedure:

1.Nominated by two IAPLE Fellows using the Academy fellowship nomination form, supported with a CV (not more than 5 pages) of the candidate, a list of top 10 publications or patents or products with a short (not more than 50 words) highlights of their significances for each publication, patent or product and supported by three additional Fellows or national academy Fellows, such as FNAE, FNAS, FRS, FREng, FCAS, and FCAE. The nomination and supporting documents shall be submitted to the Academy by 28 February every year. 

2.The membership committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to the Council before 31 May each year.

3.The Council will then review the recommendations by the membership committee and will circulate the final recommendations to all the Fellows before 30 June each year.

4.At the AGM, in August each year, the voting by more than 2/3 Fellows attending the AGM will elect the new Fellows and will be announced by the President or his/her Deputy of the Academy at the AGM.

5.The elected new Fellows will be informed by the Academy in writing and a certificate will be issued.

6.Eligible for the discount rates for the Academy events including conferences and workshops.

Procedure for the admission of Corporate Members

Corporate members can be commercial companies and higher education or research institutes. The procedure for the admission of a Corporate member is:

1.Invited by IAPLE Fellows or Corporate members;

2.Potential Corporate member candidates shall apply by using an Academy Corporate member application form;

3.The applications will be reviewed and recommended by the Corporate Membership Committee to the Council, who will finally approve the admission to the Academy; 

4.Membership includes Corporate member and Associate Corporate member. Corporate membership fee: £3,000 per year; Associate  Corporate membership: £1,000 per year;

5.Corporate membership will be terminated if the membership fee due is not paid within sixty days of receiving the invoice.
